Here are a couple of very good, very interesting Tom Waits shows, the first from a Los Angeles Radio broadcast from 1973 showcases the new kid on the block and the between song chat is reminiscent of a young performer who had made his name in New York some 12 years earlier, the gravel voice is not yet evident. Fast forward to 76' and the embryonic Tom Waits that we know now, the persona seems a little strained to my ears but it's a good show none the less. It's very interesting to listen to the shows consecutively and to hear how quickly he got the bigger picture.
